CALLS to promote the benefits of using the Welsh language through teaching have been welcomed by Qualifications Wales.
The recommendations were made by the Assembly’s committee for culture, Welsh language and communications in a report published yesterday.
It calls for the Welsh Government’s new Welsh language strategy to focus on providing teaching resources, recruiting and training teachers with Welsh language skills.
The report follows the committee’s inquiry into the new Welsh language strategy, which aims to create one million Welsh speakers by 2050.
“Several of the committee’s recommendations draw on the evidence submitted by Qualifications Wales,” said chief executive of the independent organisation Philip Blaker.
The cross-party committee also supported the reform of GCSE Welsh Second Language by Qualifications Wales, which will be taught from September, 2017.
