CHEPSTOW and District Rotary Club entertained 15 members of their twinned group in Germany earlier this month.
Members of the Westerwald Club, accompanied by their wives, made their biannual visit to the town from the mountainous region on the bank of the River Rhine.
The two groups enjoyed visits to Castell Coch, the Royal Mint and enjoyed a celebration dinner at Abbey Mill in Tintern.
During the trip, both groups also enjoyed a visit to Clearwell Caves in the neighbouring Forest of Dean.
A water project in Romania which is being supported by the Chepstow Rotary club was also given a “generous donation” by the visitors.
Christopher Wilson, of the Chepstow group, said: “While many of the visitors had visited the cities of UK they all remarked that this was the real country where they had been able to discuss and better understand the British people and their land; their understanding; their warmth; their welcome.
“The bonding of people through understanding was clear to see and everyone agreed that this had been a most successful exchange visit.”
