AN 82-year-old man involved in the crash is in a "stable condition" according to Gwent Police.
There is currently no update for the 51-year-old woman.

Gwent Police have confirmed that the crash involved two cars, with an 82-year-old man and 51-year-old woman being taken to Nevill Hall Hospital in Abergavenny.
The road was closed for three hours whilst recovery was underway but has since reopened.
A spokeswoman said: "Anyone with any information is asked to please call 101 quoting log number 71 20/06/17."
UPDATE 9.52am
Two people have been to hospital following the crash on the A40 earlier this morning.
An air ambulance, two emergency ambulances and two rapid response vehicles were deployed by the Welsh Ambulance Service to the scene.
A spokeswoman said that the injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

Bus services are being affected by the accident, which is described as "serious" by Newport Bus.

Traffic is being held while the car is recovered, with queues still being reported in and around Raglan.

A LANE on the A40 eastbound near Raglan has been closed after a car crashed into the central reservation.
A Welsh Ambulance Service spokeswoman said that the service received the report at 7.29am and are currently en route to the scene.
Congestion is being reported on the eastbound approach to Monmouth.
