YOUNG members of a Monmouthshire church have stepped in to make the best of a bad situation by replacing a stolen altar frontal with their own design.
The embroidered Red Pentecost decoration had disappeared from St Thomas a Becket Church in Shirenewton last month and has yet to resurface.
Pentecost is the celebration of the coming of the Holy Ghost to early followers of Jesus Christ.
While the church are in the process of getting a bespoke replacement, a temporary Pentecost frontal has taken its place courtesy of a group of youngsters from the church’s Sunday Club.
Led by Gilly Lambert and Lynn Morcombe, a design was brought to life by Dexter Phipps, Ben and Daniel Morcombe and Maya, Harry and Lucy Thomas.
Paul Morcombe, of the parochial church council, said: “It’s a wonderful piece of work, everyone at the church has shown their appreciation.”
