CWMBRAN Library will be supporting National Eye Health Week which runs until Sunday, September 24.

The awareness week promotes the importance of eye health, and the need for people to have regular sight tests.

Staff from Boots Opticians will be in the library between 10am and 12pm on Friday, September 22 to offer information and advice on eye health, and answer any questions or concerns.

They will also be supporting the charity Vision Aid Overseas and there will be a there will be a ‘spectacular bin’ in the library where old spectacles can be donated.

All of Torfaen’s library staff have also been trained to assist customers with visual impairments.

Cllr Alan Jones, the council’s executive member for business, tourism, leisure and culture, said: “It is recommended that you should have your eyes tested every two years as an eye examination can often pick up the first signs of a condition before you notice any changes in your vision.

“This can lead to you getting vital treatment at the right time, which could save your sight.”
