A NEW business has opened in the Abersychan area offering a selection of mouthwatering treats.

Jessica Hope started 'Hope's Pantry' from her home kitchen before moving to Wales and specialises in producing homemade fudge.

To mark the opening this month, the trader held a tasting event inviting other business owners, guests and politicians.

The mum-of-two is also known in the area as a fundraiser and launched the Lincoln's Legs appeal this year to help her son, Lincoln, who has cerebral palsy, get an operation in the US.

The fund was supported by top comic Frankie Boyle and has raised more than half of its £100,000 target.

"I basically ran Hope's Pantry from my home kitchen in Warwickshire but I stopped making my homemade fudge until the kids started school. So now was just the right time and I found the perfect premises," she said.

"I make lots of different flavours, so there is something for everyone and every age too".

Abersychan councillor, Giles Davies, added: "I'm really happy that yet another independent trader has shown confidence in the Abersychan ward by investing here and look forward to supporting Hope's Pantry and any other local business that opens in the ward".

The Station Street shop in Abersychan is open 9.15am-4pm.
