A GROUP of photographers from Cwmbran have helped to fill a fish and chip restaurant with colour by displaying image inside.

The Cwmbran Photographic Society (CPS) stuck up a deal with Page’s Fish Restaurant to show off its members’ stills in a bid to brighten the place up.

“In 2011, just after the opening of Page’s fish Restaurant, my wife and I decided to pay them a visit for lunch,” said Warren Lewis, the society’s programme secretary.

“On entering their premises I couldn’t help but notice that the new grey painted walls, although looking very modern, looked bare and in need of something to warm them up.

“Owing to the fact I was the programme secretary of the CPS and being an advent camera man, I suggested to my wife that a few wall hangings of some our printed images would look just right decorated around the premises, and this would in turn advertise our Camera Club.

“I spoke to John and his sister about the plan and they agreed wholeheartedly.”

The society visited the restaurant recently to change the pictures inside Page’s and Mr Lewis hopes that they will be able to show off some their best work in years’ to come for the diners to enjoy alongside their meals.

“Having had a word with our chairman, he agreed it would be feasible and we could also supply the frames, which at that time would be black, now changed to a warmer natural wood colour by Page’s themselves,” added Mr Lewis.

“Also that after an agreed upon time, either one month or longer, we would come along and change the images which we have successfully done over the past few years.”

The society has recently gone under a few changes in terms of its premises, but Mr Lewis believes that since the changing of the pictures, the club is ready to show off its best work once again.

“However, our old premises which were in Old Cwmbran, and is owned by the local authority as a community unit, and which we used for many years has been demolished to make way for a new building in keeping with modern heath and safety standards and up to the minute hi- tech availability.

“The local authority have agreed that we can take up the option of moving back in to the new premises at the beginning of 2018.

“Over the last few months we have been busy storing all our equipment at several of our members’ homes until we are ready to move back in.

“At present we have been fortunate enough to take up residence at the Threepenny Bit Community Hall in Thornhill, Cwmbran, which is serving us well at the moment.

“Because of all the upheaval over the past six months we have not been able to change the images at Page’s Fish restaurant until now, and because our previous building has gone, we wish to let everyone know that we are alive and kicking, always looking for new members for the forthcoming year which should be one of our best yet.”
