A BOXING club and vet recruitment business have completed a 10,000 burpee challenge - and smashed their fundraising target of £1,000.
St Joseph’s Amateur Boxing Club (ABC) Caldicot in Sudbrook, near Caldicot, and Gardner Llewelyn Group, based in Chepstow, took part in the squat-thrusting challenge to raise money to buy children in care Christmas presents.
A JustGiving page and bucket collection has raised £1,060 so far, with more money to be collected. Around 10 people from the gym and 10 staff from Gardner Llewelyn Group took part. After completing the challenge, Christmas presents will be bought and wrapped by those taking part. Monmouthshire County Council’s children and family services team has been contacted by organisers to ensure the presents reach children most in need
Martin Lewis, from St Joseph’s ABC, said: "We have also had some generous donations of brand new toys for the cause.
"We want to thank everyone that participated in this gruelling burpee challenge and a big thank you to everyone that donated."
