THREE charities chosen by the previous Mayor of Torfaen will receive a share of £5,516.27 as part of her yearlong appeal fund.
Cllr Veronica Crick chose to nominate Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospital Charity, St David’s Hospice Care and Ty Hafan, who will receive £1,830, £1,856.27 and £1,830 respectively.
Cllr Crick said: ‘There are many worthy causes but these charities affect so many people from birth to grave.
‘I would like to thank everyone who made a donation to my appeal fund and who supported my charity events throughout my year in office.
"Their generosity has resulted in over five thousand pounds going to worthy causes that benefit local people.
‘It was a fantastic honour to be the Mayor of Torfaen and during the year I met many outstanding individuals and wonderful community groups who do so much to make this borough a great place to live.’
At the meeting in Pontypool's Civic Centre on Thursday, November 16, the trustees approved the detail of the fundraising activity and for the distribution of the funds to the charities, officially closing the fund.
