AN AWARD-WINNING chef will bring Mediterranean cuisine to Pontypool with a pop-up Greek night in Pontypool Indoor Market on Thursday, December 14 at 7pm.

Mark Coulton of Sugar Loaf Catering has won numerous awards including the prestigious Great Taste and Wales True Taste awards.

On the menu are mezze sharing platters to start, followed by roasted shoulder of lamb with lemon potatoes, and a vegetable and chickpea casserole.

For dessert there will be traditional Baklava, and a fully licensed bar will be available throughout the night as well as music from local musician Joe Gormley.

Cllr Alan Jones, executive member for business, tourism, leisure and culture, said: “Our tapas night in September was a sell-out and we had fantastic feedback from all who attended, so we are delighted that Mark and his team are returning to host a Greek night in the market.

“This is a great opportunity to try something new in an unusual venue while having a great night out with friends and I would urge people to book quickly to avoid being disappointed.

“We have trailed several new evening events at the market this year which have all been received really well.

"In 2018 we will have a quarterly comedy night and we are in the process of planning further pop-up foodie events, so please keep an eye out for future events.”

Tickets are £15 for food and are available from Pontypool Indoor Market. The market can be contacted on 01495 742757 or via pontypoolmarketmanager@torfaen.gov.uk

They can also be purchased from Sugarloaf Catering in Blaenavon, contactable on 01495 793325 or info@sugarloafcatering.co.uk.
