PUPILS from 12 primary schools in Cwmbran put their environmental knowledge to the test at Cwmbran Community Council’s annual eco-quiz.
Held at the Congress Theatre on Thursday, February 8, the event was sponsored by Knauf Insulation, who are based at the Pontyfelin Works in Croesyceiliog.
The quiz invited pupils from the Cwmbran school to pit their wits against other primary schools in a test of their knowledge of environmental matters.
The winners of the 2018 title were Upper Cwmbran’s Woodlands Community Primary School, who won £100 for their school and a tour of the Knauf facility.
Coed Eva Primary School came second, winning £75, and joint-third were Blenheim Road Community School and Llanyrafon Primary School, winning £50. All schools were given £25 for participating.
Cllr Bob Jones, the council chairman, said, “This is a very popular event amongst the schools.
“It is a great opportunity for the council to help children learn about the world around them.
“We are especially grateful to Knauf Insulation for their support again for the quiz this year.”
The other primary schools that took part in the quiz were: Croesyceiliog, Greenmeadow, Henllys Church in Wales, Pontnewydd, Maendy, Nant Celyn, Our Lady of the Angels RC and Ysgol Gymraeg Cwmbran.
