UPDATE: April 8, 8am

RAIL services between Newport and Cardiff returned to normal following yesterday's disruption.

According to National Rail, repairs continued throughout the night and trains are running normally following a disruption caused by theft of signalling cables between these stations.

----------------------------------------

NO TRAINS are running between Newport and Cardiff Central station due to a signalling problem.

A statement on National Rail's website said services could be delayed by up to 70 minutes, and disruption is expected until 9.30pm.

Arriva Trains Wales is running a "very limited" replacement bus service between the two stations, while passengers can use their tickets on some Cardiff, Newport, Cwmbran and Ebbw Vale bus services.

Tickets can also be used on Great Western Railway services via "any reasonable route" between Severn Tunnel Junction and Newport and between Cardiff Central and Swansea.

CrossCountry is also running replacement buses between Bristol Parkway and Cardiff Central via Newport.

Tickets are also valid on Newport buses between Gloucester and Newport and Arriva Trains Wales between Newport and Gloucester.
