A DEVAUDEN man who survived cancer will tackle a 400-mile fundraising bike ride to “give something back” to organisations helping people who suffer from the illness.
Paul Hopkinson will be 50 in October, and to mark his milestone birthday, he and a group of friends will cycle to Devauden from the Lake District to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.
“I had a cancer scare ten years ago, and the mum of someone else who’s taking part also had cancer”, Mr Hopkinson said.
“I thought – let’s do something memorable, and something useful, rather than just having a party.
“Let’s give something back. Everybody knows somebody who has been affected by cancer.”
Mr Hopkinson and his friends will leave Ambleside, in Cumbria, on July 28, and travel home to Devauden via Liverpool, Conwy, Caernarfon and Builth Wells.
