A PARROT has been reunited with his family after being missing for two days.

Monty, who is described as a baby and inexperienced flyer, escaped from his home in Pontymoile at 7.30pm, on Thursday July 19, and was found at 2.30pm on Sunday, July 22.

Saskia Newland-Jones, 25, whose parents own Monty, said: “Monty was flying about exploring the house, as he always does when my parents are at home, but on this particular occasion somebody had accidentally left the patio door ajar.

“The whole family were absolutely devastated. As soon as Monty flew out, my parents phoned me to ask my husband and I to rush to the house to help look for him.

“My nephews and niece are always visiting Monty. I often spend my afternoons with him. He cwtches up with us in the evenings, my dad eats his breakfast with him every morning.

“He’s a right little character. When he went missing, we all felt as if there was a sudden void in the family – a big Monty shaped void.”

The family made videos on Facebook, which were shared by the community, and put up posters around Pontymoile in hope of finding Monty - and it worked.

“Dad rushed over there as soon as we heard that he’d been spotted,” Mrs Newland-Jones added.

“There were a lot of happy tears.

“I think social media is what really sent the #FindMonty campaign soaring. The amount of support that flooded in online was incredible.”
