HISTORY will be brought to life this weekend at two of Monmouthshire’s famous castles.
Heritage organisation CADW is holding the events as part of its ‘Castles Alive!’ campaign.
Chepstow Castle will be home to a medieval ‘living history’ weekend on July 28-29, 9.30am-6pm.
Activities include a medieval sword school, where visitors will be taught by the Knights of Bowlore – a professional display group – how to successfully attack a stronghold.
The weekend will also feature weaponry demonstrations and armour displays.
Organisers say sword-school graduates are guaranteed to leave the castle feeling equipped for battle.
At Raglan Castle, visitors will be immersed in two days of Tudor tradition and turmoil organised by the Beaufort Companye and the Wars of the Roses Federation, who will transport the majestic castle back through time to the days of Henry VIII and Elizabeth I.
This is the fifth time the hugely popular re-enactment event will be held at Raglan Castle, and takes place on July 28-29, 11am-4pm.
Tickets cost the same for each event.
Adults’ tickets cost £6.90 and children’s tickets cost £4.10, with concessions and family discounts available.
