TORFAEN’S AM has officially opened the new office building for a dementia charity.
Lynne Neagle AM, who is chair of the Welsh Assembly’s cross-party group on dementia, has officially opened the new offices of Alzheimer’s Society Cymru in Gwent.
Alongside people living with dementia, the assembly member cut the ribbon to a new office space in Pontypool which will serve as a central base for staff across Gwent.
Lynne Neagle AM said: “I’m delighted to be opening this new office for Alzheimer’s Society Cymru, for staff and volunteers providing support to people affected by dementia throughout Gwent. Well done to everyone who has worked so hard to deliver the new office.”
The office has absorbed five former offices in Caerphilly, Torfaen, Newport, Blaenau Gwent and Monmouth, and has spaces available for training and meetings for partner organisations to use.
Kerry Phelps, operations manager for Alzheimer’s Society Cymru in Gwent, said: “This new office will help us to connect with partners in the health and social care sector, as well as providing a better equipped space from which we will deliver support for people affected by dementia all over Gwent.”
