OUR summer heatwave may have come to an abrupt end, but forecasters are predicting a return to warmer, drier days by the end of the coming week.

Gwent’s farmers will have been grateful to finally receive some much-needed rain, but for others the storms on Saturday and Sunday (July 28-29) were not welcomed so warmly.

With a yellow weather warning – indicating possible flooding and strong winds – issued by the Met Office for Sunday (July 29) morning and early afternoon, people in Gwent will be happy to hear the outlook for the rest of the coming week suggests gradual improvements.

Temperatures are expected to remain in the low twenties, returning to highs of 24C by Friday (August 3).

While the Met Office predicts cloudy skies for much of the week, those clouds will give way to sunny intervals by Wednesday (August 1), with clear blue skies forecast for the coming weekend.
