A SUPPORT service in Monmouth was donated more than 100 gifts last week from shoppers in Cardiff’s St David’s centre, as part of its annual Toy Appeal.

The gifts, including toys from stores such as Hamleys, Lego and Disney, were delivered to the Home Start organisation by a team of Christmas helpers to spread festive cheer to the children and families who use the service.

Monmouth-based Home Start offers support to families and parents affected by situations such as isolation, bereavement, multiple births, illness, or disability, as well as people who are finding parenting a struggle.

The organisation provides non-judgemental practical and emotional support and help build families’ confidence and ability to cope.

Charlotte Cook, scheme manager at Home-Start Monmouthshire, said: “We are delighted to have received toys from the Toy Appeal again this year.

“Although Monmouthshire is seen as an affluent county, we work with a great deal of families who struggle financially, and the pressure of Christmas can be a huge struggle.

“So from all of us here at Home-Start Monmouthshire, thank you to all who donated this year and to all who made this year’s toy appeal happen. We are truly grateful.”

Steven Madeley, general manager for St David’s, added: “We’re thrilled to be supporting Home Start to help bring some Christmas magic to the children and families they support for another year running.”
