Built in 1923, the building was named after the owner and publisher of the Pontypool Free Press, Henry Hughes. Since the paper left, it has housed a number of businesses, including a taxi firm and a solicitors.

Hannah Blythyn AM, Deputy Minister for Housing and Local Government, attended the event along with local politicians, contractors, partners and staff from Bron Afon.
