John Turner has been heavily involved in the running of the club since it opened.
He said: “I was a councillor at the time, and I asked the council if we could open the building as a community centre.
“It was suggested that we opened an after-school club as there were not any in the area. The council loved the idea.
“I got involved then and have been ever since.
“We are able to provide the before and after school care that parents really appreciate."
