USK’S Post Office will soon be relocated to a new premises within the town’s library and community hub.

The new Usk branch, located at 35 Maryport Street, will offer Post Office products and services during the normal opening hours of the library and community hub, from an open-plan till at the retail counter.

The library and community hub is 400 metres from the current location at 33 Bridge Street, which will close on April 30 following the resignation of the postmaster and withdrawal of premises for Post Office use.

The new branch will open the following day (May 1) at 1pm.

Although the decision to relocate has already been taken, the Post Office company is now inviting members of the public to give their comments on the move in a six-week public consultation.

Neil Jenkins, Post Office’s area network change manager, said: “We’re making sure that customers are able to get their cash, send and collect their mail, and do their banking because we know how important these services are to local residents in Usk.

He added: “We’re confident that this vibrant new-style Post Office at the heart of the local community will meet customer needs.”

During the public consultation, Post Office Ltd welcomes feedback on any issues customers would like considered on the move. The consultation will close on May 7.

The new Usk Post Office branch’s normal opening hours are 9am-5pm on Mondays and Wednesdays, 9am-7pm on Thursdays, and from 9am-12.45pm on Saturdays.
