PUPILS from schools across Pontypool came together in a celebration of Welsh culture for the 21st annual Pontypool Community Council Eisteddfod.
The two-day event, held at the Pontypool Active Living Centre, saw pupils from seven local schools take part, with the infants taking part on day one and the juniors taking centre stage on the second day.
Youngsters could compete for silverware in a number of categories, including solo recitation, group recitation, woodwind, singing, brass, folk dancing, strings, piano and choir categories.
After New Inn Primary School and Griffithstown Primary School finished as joint-winners on the first day, Griffithstown Primary came out on top in the second day to take the overall prize.
New Inn Primary finished as runners-up, with George Street Primary rounding off the top three.
Cllr Anthony Hunt, leader of Torfaen Council, attended the event and presented one of the awards.
He said: "It's fantastic. The standard of singing, dancing and musical performances is better than ever.
"It is so good to see what the young people get out of it, with the self-confidence they can get from performing.
"Thank you to everyone at Pontypool Community Council for putting this together, and to everyone that has taken part.
"It's been nice to take some time out of my day to come and watch."

David Yeowell, executive member for education at Torfaen Council was also in attendance.
He said: "I think it is very important for the learners to involve themselves in these extra-curricular activities.
"I'm particularly pleased to see the music and musical performances, the standard this year is equal to or even better than in previous years.
"It's important for the children to compete. I'm a big believer in competition, and it's done in a friendly environment."
Gaynor James, leader of Pontypool Community Council said: "I'd like to say a big thank you to all the schools for their hard work and for taking part.
"A massive thanks also to Pontypool Community Council staff for their amazing work making it another successful event."
