NEW business units planned for an industrial estate near Ebbw Vale could create up to 50 full-time jobs.

Plans to build 14 employment units within three buildings on Rassau Industrial Estate have been recommended for approval by planning officers.

The 3,036 square metre development would come with 73 car parking spaces, five motorcycle spaces and six cycle stands.

Two new vehicle access points would also be created to enter the site.

The development would be "visually prominent" to motorists on the A465 Heads of the Valleys road which is located next to the industrial estate.

A condition requiring a landscaping scheme as part of the development has been suggested, to help mitigate the visual impact.

Designs for the proposed buildings are said to be in keeping with the appearance of the rest of the industrial estate.

The 'speculative' development could see units used for business, general industrial or storage or distribution uses.

A planning report says: "The proposed employment development is acceptable in land use terms and would deliver valuable employment floor space and jobs to the benefit of local residents and the economy."

The application will be decided by Blaenau Gwent council's planning committee on Thursday.
