NEWPORT County AFC manager Michael Flynn is still "hopeful" that his side can claim a League Two play-off place after tonight's 0-0 draw with fellow promotion hopefuls Swindon Town.
It was the second stalemate at Rodney Parade in four days after County were held by Tranmere Rovers on Saturday.
But Exeter City's defeat at Macclesfield Town leaves the Exiles five points below seventh place with a game in hand and 18 points still to play for.
And Flynn believes the draw with Swindon, who remain 10th, was a point gained.
"On the second half performance I'd say it is a point gained, especially with Exeter losing," said the manager.
"Six games to go, five points behind with a game in hand, why wouldn't I be hopeful?
"I'm buzzing that we have conceded only one goal in our last nine home games."
County lost both Jamille Matt and Joss Labadie to injury in the first half but both could return for Saturday's trip to Cambridge United.
Matt came off with a dead leg and Labadie was stretchered off after sustaining a gash to his ankle.
