STUDENTS at a Cwmbran high school have donned their best pink togs to raise money for a local charity.
Both male and female pupils at Fairwater High School paid £1 to wear pink. They raised £425.29 for Pink Fizz charity, which supports Velindre Hospital.
Tina Cheshire from Community Service Volunteers helped to organise the event. She said: "Everyone really tried their best. Even the boys seemed to enjoy wearing pink.
"As well as wearing pink, the youngsters baked and sold cakes, played name the bunny and had a fundraising five-a-side football match.
"Velindre Hospital will use the money to buy small, but essential items such as cups and plates."
Mrs Cheshire added: "The students had never done anything like this before so they all really enjoyed it. They were all given certificates for their hard work.
"We're going to have a large cheque drawn up to present to the charity."
