BLAENAVON was in party mood last weekend, as it celebrated its status as a world heritage site.
After the town crier Derrick Price got festivities under way at 11.30am, the day was packed with events and activities including a performance by Blaenavon Town Band and a parade through its streets with local people donning traditional costumes.
This is the eighth year that it has held such an event after being pronounced a World Heritage site in December 2000 because of its ironworks and coalmining history.
Blaenavon's mayor Cllr Tom Huish said: "It is always a wonderful day with the whole town taking part.
"It's nice to see everyone enjoying themselves, with the schoolchildren taking part in the parade and learning about the town's history at the same time."
Around 7,000 people attended.
