LOCALS have paid tribute to Reverend Canon Colin Wilcox who has retired after 16 years service in the parish of Griffithstown.

Mr Wilcox and his wife Pat are leaving Griffithstown to move to Cardiff to be closer to their family. Parishioners held a special service for them, attended by more than 100 people, and selected appropriate hymns and music for the occasion.

Ann Martin, churchwarden at St Hilda's Church, said Mr Wilcox has been vicar of both St Hilda's and St Oswalds Church, in Sebastopol for over 16 years.

A party was also held in St Hilda's church hall to say a fond farewell to the couple who have done so much for the area.

Mrs Martin said: "It is going to be a big loss to all of us. He has been an excellent vicar here and we will miss him and Pat very, very much. We hope that the work he has started here will continue."
