ORGANISERS of the Abergavenny Food Festival have revealed their exciting line-up for the tenth anniversary of the event.
The festival will celebrate a decade of gastronomic delights on September 20 and 21, with thousands of visitors from across the country expected to descend upon the town.
This year also marks the launch of the first Abergavenny Festival fringe supported by the Welsh Assembly, which will feature over 50 events put on by local organisations in the run-up to, and over, the main festival weekend.
One of the highlights of the Festival Fringe is expected to be a Parade des Chefs, as local children take to the streets with an array musical cooking implements on Tuesday, September 16 and Saturday, September 20.
Celebrations for the festival will kick off at the Anniversary Fanfare Supper on Thursday, September 18 in Abergavenny Market Hall, where 250 people will gather to feast.
The much-loved cooking masterclasses will be led this year by an array of leading chefs including Matt Tebbutt, Tom Parker Bowles, Ollie Couillard and Shaun Hill from Abergavenny's famous Walnut Tree restaurant.
Also at the event will be festival favourites Mark Hix and Mitch Tonks who are returning to present a fish tasting session, and Valentine Warner, star of BBC2's What to Eat Now will advise visitors on the best ways to cook in-season food.
Sacla, the new sponsors of he Food Academy at Abergavenny Castle will have a host of activities for children and their families, from demos in the kitchen area to a rolling programme of events in the fruit and veg, baking, and dairy tents .
At the heart of the festival in the Victorian Market Hall the region's best chefs will be in action on the new Robert Price kitchens stage.
A party at the castle with a special firework display for the tenth anniversary part will take place at Abergavenny Castle on Saturday, September 20.
General entry to the festival is £4.50 for an adult and £1 for a child. Tutored tastings, and masterclasses are all individually ticketed from £5.00 upwards.
