Bloom Festival comes to Chepstow

THOUSANDS of people will pour into Chepstow this summer after it was decided to move an outdoor music festival to the town's racecourse.

This summer's Bloom Festival is relocating for the next three years from West Littleton Down in Gloucestershire following a licensing row. Billed as a house party in a field, up to 6,000 music-lovers are expected to flock to the festival, which runs from Friday, August 14 to Saturday, August 16.

With an eclectic mix of music on offer, festival-goers can feast their ears on hip-hop, house, funk, drum and bass and everything in between. A mix of established and up-and-coming acts will grace the stage, ranging from artists such as Finlay Quaye and Noah and the Whale to Chase and Status, Nathan Fake and Ralph Lawson.

After having problems with their previous venue, organisers needed to find a new home for the annual event.

Festival organiser Olivia Chapman said: "Chepstow couldn't be more perfect for Bloom 2009, it's been a complete silver lining. The new location is faultless and we're now even more excited about August's festival."

Now in its fourth year, the festival has grown from a two-tent gig playing for 1,500 fans, into having six stages for artists to perform on. Tickets for this year's Bloom Festival cost £75.
