A MAN suffered serious burns today in a fire involving three canal boats.
THE 40-year-old man was taken to Nevill Hall Hospital in Abergavenny with burns to his chest, face, hands and forearms.
His injuries were so severe he was later transferred to a specialist burns unit at Morriston hospital in Swansea.
The fire service was called to the incident at Oak Lane, Llanellen, near Abergavenny, at around midday.
It is understood the man had been working on his canal boat at the time of the incident.
Crews from Abergavenny put the fire out by 1.18pm.
South Wales Fire and Rescue Service this evening said the incident was accidental.
