Chepstow library to have £120,000 facelift

CHEPSTOW Library is to undergo a £120,000 refurbishment to improve reading space for families.

The refurbished library will deliver a new reading garden, an improved area for young people and a new space for family and local history research.

Technological improvements will include self-service machines, Wi-Fi and laptops for use in the library.

The building will be closed from September 19 until January 23 and alternative library facilities will be provided from Chepstow Leisure Centre.

The focus will be on adult fiction, children and teenagers, and internet provision.

The library will temporarily relocate to Chepstow Leisure Centre on September 26.

Library manager, Sue Wallbank, welcomes the changes, she said: "Chepstow is a good, well loved library. The refurbishment grant means that we will to be able to maintain our delivery of existing services while at the same time improving our community space and facilities for book lovers, young people, family history researchers and internet surfers."

Opening hours will include additional opening on Wednesday mornings: Monday 9.00 - 5.30 Tuesday 10.00 - 7.00 Wednesday 9.00 - 1.00 Thursday 9.00 - 7.00 Friday 9.00 - 5.30 Saturday 9.00 - 1.00 The refurbished library will deliver a range of exciting new services for everyone in Chepstow and the surrounding area. The work will be funded by CyMAL (Museums Archives and Libraries Wales) and Monmouthshire County Council.
