ALMOST 700 people attended the re-opening of Chepstow Library on Saturday following a £120,000 refurbishment.
The library officially opened its doors at 9am giving visitors their first glimpse of the new layout and additional features including vibrant new children and teenager areas, and the highly anticipated Chepstow Collection - an area dedicated to housing local historical material.
Chepstow manager, Sue Walbank, said she was thrilled with the turnout on the day adding, "We had such fantastic feedback from people. Many said they were so pleased to see us reopen and were very impressed with the new layout, range of books and the new equipment.
"We had plenty of activities going on throughout the event including local author, Daniel Morden, story-telling to youngsters and representatives from Gwent Family History Group and the Chepstow Society were on hand to promote the new Chepstow Collection." The library hosts a range of reading groups and children's storytelling sessions as well as offering members the use of free internet access and assistance.
