Torfaen pupils work hard to raise funds for Ken Jones appeal

TORFAEN pupils who worked hard to raise money for our Ken Jones appeal were presented with certificates.

Abersychan School raised £95.98 by singing carols in Blaenavon and Pontypool and Cwmffrwdoer Primary School raised £108 with fundraising activities at the School.

The head teacher of Cwmffrwdoer school, Richard Brunsdon, said: "The pupils really enjoyed the Go Red for Wales day that we held and the pupils now all know what Ken Jones achieved.

"We hope to bring pupils to come and see the statue in the near future."

West Monmouth School raised £278 by carol singing at the Tesco store in Pontypool and held a Ken Jones activity day.

West Monmouth School's head girl, Aimee Vaughan, 16, said: "We had lots going on around the school, including aerobics, on our activity day, it was a lot of fun."

Children from Blaenavon Heritage Voluntary Controlled Primary School, based at Hillside Primary School and St Peters Church in Wales Primary sites, raised £328.70 by wearing red.
