A MONMOUTHSHIRE couple battled fierce weather but completed the gruelling ride from Lands End to John O'Groats.
Richard and Tracey Shaw from Caldicot set off on June 22 to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support and St Annes Hospice, Newport.
The route, that covered over 1000 miles, saw the pair averaging 75 miles each day.
They trained regularly since Christmas by cycling on the weekends, but it was Mrs Shaw's first ride of such distance.
Mr Shaw, 51, said: "We finished midday on July 5, covering 1061 miles in total. It was an amazing experience but certainly proved to be a tough challenge.
"Tracey deserves a medal for her determination and effort."
The couple have raised £1,200 but with donations still coming in they hope to reach the £2,000 mark.
Their inspiration to keep on pedalling was Mrs Shaw's dad, Les Hicks, who died last December. He was a keen supporter of MacMillian Cancer Support and had suffered from prostate cancer for many years.
