Chepstow singer is one of the headline acts at Abergavenny's urban music festival

A CHEPSTOW singer who shot to fame on The Voice will be one of the headline acts at the Breakin' Out Festival in Monmouthshire on September 8.

Hannah Berney, 21, who performed solo for the Queen as part of the Diamond Jubilee celebrations, will now be performing along with the likes of Tinchy Stryder and rapper Chip aka Chipmonk.

The event will take place in Bailey Park in Abergavenny and will also feature Abyss Dance Crew, and Skepta, as well as a host of other acts.

The Breakin' Out Festival is the brainchild of events organiser and local youth mentor, Sharon Lewis.

It has been organised to tackle drug and alcohol abuse and will act as a launch for the beenthereb4 website which aims to support affected people. Sharon, who herself is a recovered drug addict and alcoholic, has been helped by 20 volunteers.

Ms Lewis, who has previously worked in London clubs as well as Abergavenny Food Festival, hopes to attract around 5,000 people to the alcohol-free event, which will better promote support for people experiencing the same problems she went through.

She said: "Our message is prevention rather than cure. Children idolise celebrities and we want to use celebrities to relay a positive message that these kinds of things aren't cool.

"This is unique, it's not a normal festival." a background in the club scene in London and invaluable experience."

Festival goers will have the opportunity to meet some of the artists who will take part in a question and answer session. There will also be free DJing, beatbox, graffiti, and street dance workshops and local bands will compete to win a chance to play on the event's open mic stage.

Sporting activities including a paintball range and assault course will also be offer before the night ends with a fireworks display.

Breakin' Out Festival will take place on September 8th; full ticket information and artist line-up is available from breakinoutfestival.com
