Information session on proposed waste plant in Pontypool
5:00pm Sunday 2nd September 2012 in News
ENVIRONMENT Agency Wales is seeking comments on Shanks' application for an environmental permit to operate an anaerobic digestion (AD) plant in Pontypool. The agency will hold a session to explain the application process, what an environmental permit covers and what issues can be considered during the process.
A session will be held on Tuesday, September 11, at Panteg House in Griffithstown, from 2pm to 7pm. The session will give people a chance to ensure their comments are heard. The consultation will close on Friday, October 12, and the agency will only grant a permit if it is satisfied the facility will not harm the health of residents or damage the environment.
It will carry out an in-depth investigation to assess if there would be any risk. Key agencies such as Torfaen council, Aneurin Bevan Health Board, Food Stan-dards Agency, South Wales Fire and Rescue Service and other consultees will be asked for comments and to provide information.
Any comments on the application should quote reference EPR BB3730AR and be sent in writing to PSC, Quadrant 2, 99 Parkway Avenue, Sheffield S9 4WF or emailed to psc@environment-agency. gov.uk no later than Friday, October 12.
