FIFTY people turned up to show their support for the Ken Jones Appeal.

Melin Homes held a festival of fitness to mark the first anniversary of health and well-being group Zest, which is a staff initiative that works to improve staff health by running schemes such as cycle to work.

As part of the event, a zumba taster session was held in Pontypool’s Active Living Centre, and Melin staff were joined by Pontypool residents to take part.

Pontypool Curves staff were out in force at the event collecting money and £60 was raised for the Ken Jones Appeal, which will be added to the funds to erect a statue of the Welsh rugby and Olympic legend.

Among the guests were Pontypool singer Demi Holborn, 20, who has cowritten a single If I Could and is also recording her debut album, and Torfaen AM Lynne Neagle.
