GRATEFUL: Kirsty Jones with fiance Colin and Fred Wildgust with one of his wedding cars
A BRIDE who nearly cancelled her wedding after reporting her wedding planner to trading standards officers has been offered two free wedding cars for her big day.
Kirsty Jones, 26, is getting married to fiance Colin today and was going to have a friend take her to the church after she said her wedding planner failed to book her transport.
Trading standards officers in Rhondda Cynon Taff are now probing complaints against the wedding planner.
Her story was published in this paper two weeks ago, where it was read by Fred Wildgust, from Pontypool, who owns a wedding car hire company.
Mr Wildgust said he was "touched" by Ms Jones' situation, and so he decided to offer the use of his two Jaguar wedding cars.
He said: "There are a lot of charlatans out there, and there are also a lot of people who are struggling for every penny.
"This is my attempt at doing something nice to soften the blow. I just want to help give this couple a happy ending after what they've been through."
Ms Jones said: "Thank you isn't enough for what he has done for us, we are just so grateful, words can't describe it."
People have been amazing. We had a woman offer to make us a four-tier wedding cake for just £80, and a company got in touch and sorted out our chair covers really cheap as well.
"I'm just so relieved, and it shows there are some really nice people out there after all."
