Caldicot level crossing to be closed for work
THE main railway line level crossing at Caldicot will be closed temporarily next month, while work on part of a £450 million resignalling renewal scheme is carried out.
The crossing will close from 8pm on Friday, November 2, until 4.35am on Monday, November 5, to enable the track to be renewed.
This forms part of work on the mainline from Caldicot to Newnham Tunnel, as part of phase two of the Newport area signalling renewal project.
Vehicles will be unable to cross, but an attendant will be available on site at all times, and will escort pedestrians across the level crossing during safe periods.
