Simon Gibson will be speaking at the M4 Business Network event on Tuesday November 11 at the Celtic Manor.

As director of the Celtic Manor Resort, founding trustee of the Alacrity Foundation, chief executive of Wesley Clover Corporation and chair of Newport’s regeneration programme - reNewport, Simon is hugely influential within the South Wales business community.

He is also the chair of Digital Wales and is a member of Ofcom’s National Advisory Committee. He was granted OBE status in the Queen’s Birthday Honours list in 1999 for his services to industry and the community in South Wales.

Simon’s will talk about his role as chair of Re-Newport as the scheme continues to gather momentum.

Other exciting and relevant topics to be discussed include Simon’s instrumental role in attracting the Nato Summit to Newport and the progression of the first graduates through the Alacrity Foundation, which was set up to help encourage more start-up technology businesses in Wales.

Paul Byett, chair of the M4 Business Network and managing partner of UHY Hacker Young, its main sponsor, said: “We are absolutely elated to welcome Simon Gibson to speak to our members. He could not grace us with his presence at a more relevant time, considering the major regeneration plans for Newport are now well underway as well as the recently held Nato Summit which put Wales on the world-wide map.

“As a network we are keen to explore how businesses can capitalise on the recent exposure Wales has received through Nato and how the regeneration of areas like Newport will boost future economic prosperity.”

Having become one of the most established events in the business networking calendar, the M4 Business Network holds four breakfast events each year at the Celtic Manor Resort. Current sponsors of the club include the South Wales Argus.
