Glenn Perry has made a very successful start with his new business since leaving a senior position in a large London commercial cleaning company to return home. With a unique giving spirit he greets South Wales with his refreshing business model.

The former youth worker, now based in Cross Keys, spent 12 years working in the capital as the head of operations and sales for the cleaning company helping increase turnover from £200k to £5m.

Having got married and started a family, Glenn and his wife wanted to move back home and combine his knowledge and experience from his youth work and cleaning careers to set up Ecommercial Cleaning Services.

Glenn has always helped and mentored young people and has always been passionate about presenting opportunities to those with little chance of securing a job.

He is now seeking to provide opportunities for others in similar positions in the South Wales areas within his new business while also committing to paying more than the minimum wage, provide full training and support to each employee through mentoring and training and provide them with skills they can use in other roles.

The commercial cleaning company only started trading earlier this year and is already employing 14 members of staff with 14 contracts in place with clients in Newport and Cardiff. They even boast of preparing a client's site fit for the Queen during her visit back in April. Their core services include regular office cleans, deep cleans after building work and factory cleans.

Glenn has been encouraged by the strong start his business has made and how well the ethical approach has been received by customers.

He said: “When we returned from London it was a daunting prospect to start from scratch in a competitive marketplace. When I approached some of the organisations I knew from my previous role as a youth worker and explained what I wanted to achieve and the opportunities I intended to provide, I was very pleased with the response but it also meant that I have to fulfil my part of the promise. Customers have also supported us and our ethically and environmentally friendly approach is proving popular.”

The next steps for the business will be to continue to build the customer base with a view to training the staff to a level where they will be able to run and manage their own Ecommercial businesses.
