Some of the world’s leading tech innovators and disruptors have been confirmed to take the stage at the third annual Digital 2015 being held at the Celtic Manor Resort in Newport event on June 8 and 9.

The event will gather a number of leading organisations which are at the forefront of digital innovation and see them inspire others to adopt cutting-edge technologies into their own lives and businesses.

With a focus on how new technologies have shaped how we work, live and play, the event is set to cover four distinct themes – digital showcase, digital skills, digital innovation and digital entrepreneurs.

The digital innovation theme will underpin two days of debate and draw on the latest in digital thinking and how technology trends such as data analysis and application, Internet of Things, cyber security and Cloud are shaping the world around us.

CEO of JustPark, the UK’s highest grossing crowd funder, Alex Stephany will talk about its success within the growing sharing economy, while Airbus’ VP Simon Bradley will discuss the latest digitalisation challenges within traditional industries.

Set to join him is chief technology officer of Cisco Alison Vincent who’ll be leading a talk on the Internet of Things, drawing on her 25 years’ experience in software projects, Agile methodologies, software engineering and customer value.

As one of the UK’s foremost digital economy experts, Cardiff University’s Professor Ian Hargreaves will also give insight into his role as chair of Digital Economy and the impact of digital communications technology on intellectual property issues and the creative economy.

Additional speakers across the innovation theme include Dave Coplin, Microsoft’s chief envisioning officer, who will lead a talk on The Rise of the Humans; Conrad Wolfram, part of the strategic and international development team at leading software research company Wolfram Alpha; head of products for Hive James Monighan and Cliff Evans, Global CTO of management consultancy Capgemini.

Outside of innovation panels, the digital showcase theme will see speakers from Oxfam, DVLA, NHS Wales and Amazon Web Services share their experiences of how digital uptake has impacted their industry and provided huge success.

With growth in healthcare, data management and e-commerce attributing to an 87 per cent increase in new digital companies in South Wales alone from 2010 to 2013, delegates will also hear from a host of indigenous Welsh businesses on what it takes to make waves in the competitive global tech scene.

Drawing on the latest insights from the Rugby World Cup preparations, Rhys Long, National Head of Performance Analysis at the Welsh Rugby Union will take to the stage as part of a panel titled Digital in Sport that will look at how performance analysis can be supported by digital technology. He will be joined by experts from Welsh Cycling and Football Association Wales to look at digital opportunities across a number of sporting sectors.

As part of a panel on Digital for Good, Matt Jerwood, Oxfam’s digital fundraising lead, will discuss how digital technology can be used as part of community outreach and engagement within charities and not for profit organisations.

The National Library of Wales’ research associate in digital collections, Owain Roberts, will discuss the digitalisation of its archives and merging the written word with touch screen, while CEO of Caerphilly-based healthcare app Nudjed Warren Fauvel will provide insights on the latest innovations in healthcare – drawing on pioneering breakthroughs in everything from self-diagnoses to digitalised patient directories.

The digital entrepreneurs theme is a chance to explore subjects including the types of funding options open to digital businesses and what it takes to establish successful organisations with new and disruptive technologies at their core. Masterclasses will include digital marketing basics by Alexia Arrizabalaga from Google, Taking the Plunge by Steve Dimmick of Small Joys, a case study by Alexandra Schwinn from Musiqli and Pitching Your Business by Jonathan Roomer from KPMG Tech Growth.

The digital skills theme will connect educators, training providers, employers with students and school children and focus on the challenges and opportunities for those progressing through the education system and into the workplace. To hear about real opportunities and insights from the workplace, interactive workshops will be run by the likes of the BBC, Wise Kids and The Education Foundation.

More speakers are set to be revealed over the coming weeks.
