The search to find Newport’s top marketers has begun as the Chartered Institute of Marketing launches Canmol: Wales Marketing Awards 2015.

Marketers in Newport can follow in the footsteps of Dan Langford, who flew the flag for the city at the 2013 event when he triumphed in the Outstanding Marketer category.

Dan Langford was awarded Canmol’s Outstanding Marketer award at the 2013 Canmol ceremony for the contribution he made to the Welsh marketing industry throughout his long-spanning career, which has seen him work with organisations including the Commonwealth Games Council for Wales, UWIC and CBI Wales.

He currently leads the marketing strategy for the Newport-based Acorn – Wales’ largest recruitment agency, which has a network of branches across Wales, England and Australia. He is also a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Marketing.

Companies across Wales, from SMEs to large corporate firms, in both the public and private sector, have been invited by the CIM to enter the Canmol Awards. Awards are on offer for both individuals and teams who have achieved outstanding business results over the past year through innovative and creative marketing campaigns.

The Canmol Awards will be judged by a 27-strong panel of experts and academics from across the marketing industry.

Judges will be split across the nine sector-based categories, enabling each panel to consider the virtues and qualities of every campaign entirely in the context of that sector’s market climate.

Canmol, meaning ‘to praise’ in Welsh, will be judged under the chairmanship of Dr Jonathan Deacon, Reader - Marketing & Entrepreneurship, University of South Wales and vice-chair of the CIM Board of Trustees.

Entries must be submitted by July 31, 2015 via the Canmol website with winners announced at an awards dinner, to be held at St David’s Hotel and Spa in Cardiff on October 9, 2015.
