The Newport City Campus of the University of South Wales is the base for one lucky AAT student to gain scholarship for a masters level Association of Chartered Certified Accountants qualification following an announcement by Now Careers, a Cardiff-based recruitment consultancy.

The ACCA qualification can cost students, or often the individual’s employer up to £8000 and never before has this type of course been funded by a third party.

Ben Cottam, head of ACCA Cymru Wales, said: “ACCA is the world’s fastest-growing gateway to the accountancy profession, and this globally-recognisable qualification equips students with knowledge of both financial and management accounting, allowing fluidity between different roles, industries and sectors. It will also no doubt increase employment prospects and salary expectations. Thanks to Now Careers, their scholarship will enable one lucky student, who may not have previously considered it a viable option, to gain their ACCA qualifications.”

The closing date for entries is Friday, July 31, 2015. On August 10, 2015, the top 10 candidates will be shortlisted. On August 24 the top three candidates will be invited to take part in a group lunch and interview held at the Celtic Manor Resort, with representatives from Now Careers, the University of South Wales and ACCA Cymru Wales.
