Western Power Distribution is lending its support to the first Bloodwise 'Spring Walk' on Sunday April 17.

The event, which will raise money for the blood cancer charity, will take walkers five miles through stunning scenery from Goytre Wharf past Llanover and back, along the Monmouthshire and Brecon canal.

Entry to the walk costs £6 for adults and £3 for children, with family tickets also available. All money raised goes directly towards the charity’s life-saving research and patient support services.

Rachael Davies, regional manager for Bloodwise, said: “We’re very grateful to Western Power Distribution for its support of this event. It’s important to us to work with local companies to raise awareness of blood cancers and to raise money for research. This is our first walk along the canal and we’re looking forward to the day. Everyone is welcome to join us, it’s really easy to sign up online or call the office to register.”

WPD’s corporate communication manager Paul Bishop said: “We are pleased to support Bloodwise and we hope lots of people will sign up for this worthwhile event and have great fun - all for such a great cause.”

Western Power Distribution (WPD) is the distribution network operator for South Wales, the South West England and the Midlands, and is responsible for delivering electricity to approximately 7.8 million customers in the UK.
