First step South Wales, next the world is the mind set of husband and wife, Markus and Samantha Warwick, of Ebbw Vale-based, Innovation Makers.

The firm is the team behind Omnio, a new, wearable stroller which has been launched through the design-led crowdfunding platform Born.com.

Focussing exclusively on ‘Belle Creations’ (beautiful creations), France-based Born.com provides a platform for people to purchase products created with craftsmanship and a perfectionist’s eye for detail. The products it promotes are distinctive, unusual, original, and imaginative, and Omnio has been hand-picked by the team at Born.com to present its new stroller.

Samantha Warwick, co-founder and product designer for Omnio, said: “We are very excited by the fact we are taking a Welsh-designed product and showcasing it to the world.

"Omnio has been years in the making and we are particularly proud of the unique multi-directional ‘omni-wheel’ which offers improved steering agility. All aspects of the design have been focused on providing a unique product, but one that is both stylish and user friendly with the needs of active parents and their children always front of mind.”

The idea for Omnio was inspired by Samantha’s own experiences of parenthood. She felt that the marketplace simply didn’t offer a stroller for busy aspirational families, with infants of six months-plus, which combined portability and flexibility with unique design.

She said: “As a parent, you’re often faced with daily tasks which quickly turn into challenges as your child grows – walking to the park, shopping errands, embarking on a family holiday. One of those challenges is the stroller; it’s size, where you can and can’t take it, how easy it is to carry, where to put it when it’s not in use. Omnio Stroller removes the compromise from parenthood, enabling families to push on with active lifestyles”.

Markus Warwick, Omnio co-founder, said: “This is just the first step on what is a very exciting journey for us. We already have great interest from distributors around the world and will be announcing details on those agreements shortly. It is very much a ‘Wales to the world’ situation and we are proud of that fact.”
