Monmouthshire Building Society has appointed a new vice chairman, Tony Morgan.

Tony joined the Newport-based building society as a non-executive director in 2013 and is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants. He previously worked for Pricewaterhouse Coopers as senior partner in Wales and deputy chairman of the Wales and West Region.

Tony spent nearly 33 years with PwC including 22 years as a partner of the firm. As part of his career, he was based in Cardiff, London and Sydney, where he carried out a wide range of accountancy, audit investigation and governance assignments for PwC clients in the UK and overseas.

Following his retirement he has undertaken roles at the University of South Wales as governor, chair of the Finance & Resources Committee and member of the Remuneration Committee; at the Welsh Assembly Commission as independent adviser and chairman of the Remuneration Committee; and also at Geldards Law Firm as chairman of the Audit Committee and as an independent adviser.

Tony was appointed vice-chairman of the society’s board in August 2016 and is chairman of the Audit Committee. He also serves on the Remuneration Committee.

Tony said: “As vice chairman, my key aim will be to ensure that the interests of our members is at the forefront of all our business activity.
