Newport-based Eos Architects is supporting recent client wins and increasing project workload by appointing two new staff.

James Johansen, 28 joins the practice as an architectural technologist, while Katie Thurston, 18 becomes the face of the business, running ‘front of house’.

Formally known as the Willdig Lammie Partnership, the practice was relaunched as Eos Architects following Robert Willdig’s retirement in 2012 to reflect the ambition and optimism of the remaining and new directors.

James studied architectural design at UWIC (now Cardiff Metropolitan University) and, more recently, gained a Masters degree in building information modelling and sustainability with the University of South Wales. He joins Eos with more than five year’s experience in the industry.

His expertise lies in production design development and detailed technical design. He has considerable experience producing stage drawing packages for new build and refurbishment projects.

James said: “I am excited to have the opportunity to progress my career with Eos Architects. The practice has an excellent reputation and I am proud to be part of that. I am already getting stuck into some brilliant projects, and working alongside Campbell, Jaime and Martin is fascinating.”

Katie joins the practice straight from Coleg Gwent, where she studied a Level 3 diploma in business and administration, including a key module in legal administration. Katie has held part-time customer facing roles that, she feels, gives her an edge in providing friendly front of house support for the directors.

Katie said: “Despite having been established for more than three decades, the rebrand to become Eos Architects has transformed the practice and the team here is energetic and so creative. The breadth of the work we undertake is tremendous, so I am developing my organisational and project management skills in a high pressure environment. It’s great fun.”

Campbell Lammie, managing director, said: “We have ambitious plans to grow the practice in both scale and scope, and these two appointments are an early indication that our plans are progressing.

“By securing new projects from existing clients, alongside new client commissions, Eos Architects is drawing upon decades of experience among the directors to create architecture and a built environment of which clients can be proud.

“We have a strong offer across industrial, education, healthcare and housing sectors, but that skills-set and experience is continually being transferred seamlessly to new and developing sectors, especially student accommodation and schools.”
