Newport-based law firm HardingEvans has appointed a new head of private client.

Lorraine Robinson, 32, joins the firm as a senior associate.

Lorraine’s previous experience includes more than ten years in legal services between Hugh James in Cardiff and David and Snape in Porthcawl. Lorraine grew up on a farm near Crickhowell and studied law at Cardiff University before graduating in 2005 and qualifying in 2011.

She sits on the Law Society’s Wills and Equity Committee, providing professional updates and reviewing changes in the law and procedure relating to wills, probate, trusts and charities.

She is also a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners, a worldwide organisation of lawyers, accountants and other trust and estate specialists which promotes best practice.

Lorraine said: “My new role provides the opportunity to combine my legal knowledge and experience with my management skills, which is what made the job so attractive.”

Joy Phillips, practice director at HardingEvans, said: “Making a will has always been an important part of long term planning, whether it be to ensure that loved ones are provided for upon the death of a spouse or other relative, or effectively managing tax issues.

“With an aging and more affluent population other issues such as long term planning for care and the management of affairs in old age are increasingly featuring in newspaper headlines. Having someone of Lorraine’s experience who understands and empathises with clients with differing needs is a key part of our plans to develop our private client offering.”
