LEADING financial services business Kymin are urging other Gwent businesses to follow their lead and sign up in support of the Argus’ 125 appeal.

Gwent businesses are being encouraged to get behind the Argus’ 125 Appeal by coming up with something innovative and fun to do help celebrate the newspaper’s anniversary and support St David’s Hospice Care.

The South Wales Argus, which celebrates 125 years of publication in 2017, is recruiting 125 fundraising teams to help raise money during the anniversary year for the Gwent-based charity.

Kymin Financial Planners, of Bridge Street, Newport, are long-term supporters of St David’s Hospice Care.

The firm is already supporting the Admiral City of Newport Half Marathon by sponsoring a water station as well providing marshals on the day, has a team of eight in the Moon Walk and a team in the Three Peaks of Wales Challenge and has in previous years had a craft in the Monmouth Raft Race.

Now the finance firm is going even further by adding a special 125 Appeal event to its list of charity fund raising for St David’s Hospice Care.

Kymin MD Robin Hall, from Newport, said: “We are all well aware as a business and as individuals, of the superb work St David’s Hospice Care does throughout our community which is why we are a solid supporter of the charity.

“We have been involved in raising money for the charity for a number of years and this year we plan to go even further to help support the 125 Appeal in recognition of the South Wales Argus’ anniversary.

“We’re putting our heads together to come up with a really eye-catching and unusual 125 Appeal event which will be in addition to the events we’re already committed to do in support of St David’s Hospice Care.

“We’d now like to see many more businesses not just in Newport but throughout south east Wales get involved in the marvellous 125 Appeal. St David’s Hospice Care does in our community free of charge 24 hours a day, seven days a week 365 days a year seven days of the week.”

Emma Saysell, chief executive of St David’s Hospice Care, said: “It’s wonderful that businesses, such as Kymin as well as other organisations and individuals, are really getting behind the 125 appeal. It is also very welcome to know that people realise that any fund raising that they do is in addition to what they may already do for the charity.”

South Wales Argus business editor Jo Barnes said: “The 125 Appeal, which is a celebration of 125 years of publication of the South Wales Argus, is a perfect opportunity for businesses to pledge to raise money for St David’s Hospice Care to continue its tremendous work throughout our community. It is also a valuable team building exercise for businesses.”
